Becket Primary School

Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Becket Primary School, we believe that positive mental health and emotional wellbeing are essential for children to feel happy, safe and ready to learn. We are committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive. Our whole-school approach focuses on promoting wellbeing, building resilience and helping children develop the skills they need to manage life's opportunities and challenges.

We recognise that all children experience ups and downs, and that some may require additional support with their social, emotional or mental health at different points in their school journey. Through strong relationships, effective pastoral support and early intervention, we work closely with children, families and external professionals to identify needs and provide the right support at the right time.

Our graduated approach to wellbeing ensures that support is available for all children. This includes high-quality classroom provision, emotional check-ins, nurture support, ELSA interventions and, where needed, access to specialist services and external professionals.

Within this section, you can find out more about the emotional wellbeing support available at Becket Primary School, including our Nurture Group and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) provision. These interventions help children develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation and positive relationships, enabling them to feel successful both in and out of the classroom.

Our aim is simple: every child should feel safe, supported, understood and ready to flourish.
