Inclusive Attendance

Becket Primary School is proudly recognised as an Inclusive Attendance school.

Our Inclusive Approach to Attendance

At Becket Primary School, we believe that attendance is everyone's responsibility. We recognise that children attend school best when they feel safe, valued, supported and included. We work closely with pupils, parents and external professionals to identify barriers to attendance early and provide the right support at the right time. [

As an Inclusive Attendance school, our approach is centred on positive relationships, early intervention and understanding the individual needs of each child.

Attendance Support

We recognise that attendance difficulties are often linked to wider circumstances and are not always straightforward. At Becket Primary School, we take a supportive and child-centred approach, working closely with families to understand and address any barriers to attendance.

Attendance difficulties may be influenced by:

  • Anxiety or emotional wellbeing needs
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Physical health or medical conditions
  • Family circumstances
  • Friendship or social difficulties
  • Transport challenges
  • Changes in routines or significant life events

We encourage families to contact us as early as possible so that we can work together to identify appropriate support and help every child attend, belong and succeed.

Our Attendance Pathway

We use a graduated and supportive approach to attendance. Support is tailored to the individual needs of each child and family and may increase where attendance concerns continue.

This pathway shows how support is increased over time and may include pastoral support, attendance planning, SEND support, Early Help and multi-agency involvement where appropriate.

How We Support Families

At Becket Primary School, we believe that the best attendance outcomes are achieved when schools and families work together. Support may include:

  • Meetings with parents and carers to understand concerns
  • Pastoral support for emotional wellbeing
  • SENCo involvement where SEND may be impacting attendance
  • Individual attendance support plans
  • Early Help services
  • Support from external agencies where appropriate
  • Regular reviews and communication with families

Our aim is to identify barriers early and provide support that helps every child attend, belong and succeed.
